Welcome to my new blog. I have started this as I approach the end of 2011, the year that started with me taking up running in an effort to overcome some personal issues.
My first run, in the Cumbrian hills gave me a sense of solitude and time to think. The surge of endorphins also made me feel good. This was a huge change from someone who not long before hated it with a passion!
A year on and I have never felt so fit and the positive is my weight down and I feel good. From my first four mile venture, I have already this year achieved half and full marathons distances in solitude. I regularly do runs of between 8 and 15 miles.
So what next? Well I have decided that I need a challenge, something to focus on. I have many friends that are into endurance events, or Ultra-marathons. These events are a battle of the mind, more so than physical fitness, if you are motivated and have a will to succeed there is no reason that anyone cannot achieve these sort of events.
Therefore, I have entered the London2Brighton Challenge on May the 12th 2012. This 100km event starts in Richmond Park, London and ends on Brighton Seafront. I am raising money for Cancer Research UK with a target of £2,500. It is a charity close to my heart and has affected a few family members and some dear close friends.
Please follow this blog and spread the word, I am going to need all the support I can get to achieve this target and complete the challenge. Thanks
